You might want to consider including a prosecution-based victim advocate who has worked with victims of Identity Theft to present on the steps that advocates can take to help victims clear their credit, etc, as well as help victims participate in the prosecution and sentencing of the offender (when one can be prosecuted). Oregon passed an Identity Theft statute last year and this county strongly prosecutes these cases. I have compiled quite a bit of IdTheft information into a booklet which is mailed out to anyone mentioned in any police report who has had personal information taken, regardless of the crimes being investigated in that report. This booklet is sent out under the attached cover letter . Our hope is to get as much prevention information out into the community as possible, given our limited resources. Diane Williams |
