We are forwarding this information to you because we have learned from a police report that you have had items taken from you that could be used by others to access your personal information and credit history. We hope that you benefit from the information enclosed. Frauds and forgeries that result from the use of stolen identity are a growing crime in Lane County. Many times, though not always, the person who perpetrates the fraud is not the individual who committed the theft where the name/account information was taken. It is not always possible to arrest and prosecute the criminals in these cases. However, there are steps that you can take to protect your name and accounts from use by others, and perhaps help prevent your being a victim of other crimes.
