Ms. Kelly, I am writing concerning The Federal Trade Commission review of the Funeral Rule. I am a concerned consumer that believes the Funeral Rule has had a very positive effect on the funeral industry for the consumer. Rules like these were set in place to protect the consumer in an industry where they were being taken advantage of. I believe in capitalism and and the free enterprise system, it has provided a solid foundation for our economy. However rules like the Funeral rule are sometimes needed when an industry takes advantage of consumers by inflating prices and placing unfair restrictions or requirements on its customers. I should be allowed more choices when it comes to funeral planning. A funeral homes price list (helps the consumer with comparison pricing) must be available upon request. I should be able to use my own funeral merchandise without any monetary penalty from the funeral home (flowers, guest books, caskets, clothing and more). Please remember why these rules were set in place and insist on their continued use. Thank you for your time Bruce N. Catlett |
