The Facts of Frequent Buyer Cards
Tim: Hm? What? Hi. Sorry, I was daydreaming... Hey, can you help me? See that girl over there? She's gorgeous... Gah! Sorry. Heh... aaanyway, the girl.We have these frequent buyer cards that get you free coffee, plus some other discounts. She's here a lot so maybe she could use one. Could you give this application to her? I'd do it myself but... to be honest—her beauty terrifies me. (Emily glances over) AHH! Help?
Tim: Thank you! I am forever indebted to you. Good luck!
Emily: What's this? Hmm... a frequent buyer card application. It says I can use it to get a free latte every month and some pretty good discounts. All I have to do is fill out my name and e-mail address. Hmm. Personally, I think that as long as the store isn't sharing my address with anyone else, I'm fine with that. I don't mind getting e-mails from Book Café if they're giving me free coffee every month. What I do mind is when a business starts sharing my address without telling me and all of a sudden my inbox gets flooded with junk mail.
Emily: Oh, good—it says here that they keep their mailing lists private. You should always find out how your information is going to be used before you decide to give it out.
Emily: Cool! Free lattes sound good to me. Application complete. Thanks for the delivery! But next time... make timid Timmy over there come here himself.
Tim: AHH! She knows my name!
Emily: It's on your nametag!
Tim: AHHH!
