The FTC works for the consumer to prevent fraudulent, deceptive,
and unfair practices in the marketplace, and to provide information
to help consumers spot, stop and avoid them.
Project Credit Smarts
is an important part of that effort.
Since 2000, the FTC’s Northeast Regional Office, which is based
in New York City, has brought Project Credit Smarts speakers and
educational materials to colleges and universities in
Massachusetts and New York. For example, every fall, FTC
speakers teach the ABCs of credit to freshmen at John Jay College
of Criminal Justice in NYC, and the college distributes FTC
brochures to students in class, through a freshmen mailing and in
the campus bookstore.
To book a speaker for a Credit Smarts class or to order brochures,
please call (212) 607-2829.
