Eligible NetSpend Customers Can Apply Now for a Refund

The FTC is sending claim forms to people who may be eligible for a refund as a result of a settlement between the FTC and NetSpend.

What was the lawsuit about?

According to the FTC, many people who bought NetSpend prepaid debit cards were unable to access their funds, either because NetSpend denied or delayed activation of their card or because NetSpend blocked them from using it.

In September 2018, the FTC sent checks to more than 430,000 people totaling more than $10 million. Now, the FTC is sending claim forms to people who have not yet received a payment.

Who is eligible to apply for a refund?

You can apply for a refund if you got a NetSpend card between January 1, 2010 and August 31, 2016, did not activate the card before August 31, 2016, and fees were deducted from your card balance. Do not file a claim if you have already gotten a payment from the FTC.
